Hyderabad’s skyline is changing, and it is not just about the real estate—it is about economic dominance. As of early 2026, the city has officially crossed a massive milestone, hosting over 515 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) These hubs are no longer just basic, low-cost operations handling simple back-office tasks. Instead, Hyderabad has transformed into a critical nerve centre driving strategic global decisions.

The city added more than 70 GCCs in FY25 alone, leading all major Indian tech hubs. Today, Hyderabad commands a massive 20% share of India's total nationwide GCC base. This rapid growth is fueled by a workforce of over 300,000 highly skilled professionals.

Key Metric 4.5 Million sq. ft.
Total GCCs (Q1 2026) 515+ Centres
Active Workforce 300,000+ Professionals
National Share ~20% of India's GCC base
Office Leasing (2025) 4.5 Million sq. ft.

What makes this momentum so unique is the sudden complexity of the work being done. Local teams are now spearheading advanced engineering, deep analytics, and core R&D. Sectors like aerospace, pharma, BFSI, and semiconductors are all expanding their footprint here. This evolution into high-value corporate operations requires a completely new ecosystem.

To match this maturity, major financial institutions are stepping up with integrated solutions. IndusInd Bank, for instance, recently launched a highly specialized GCC banking vertical. This vertical merges corporate, employee, and complex cross-border financial needs into one setup. It brings together digital corporate banking, custom commercial cards, and specialized FEMA solutions. Additionally, foreign-currency accounts are managed directly through a dedicated GIFT City unit.

The physical real estate market is expanding aggressively to accommodate this influx. Office space leasing by these hubs jumped from 1.9 million sq ft in 2021 to 4.5 million in 2025. Even in just the first half of 2026, leasing has already crossed 3.05 million sq ft. The future pipeline looks equally unstoppable, with 50 to 70 new centres projected within a year. Experts also predict an incremental 8 to 12 million sq ft of office demand in the medium term. This ongoing expansion is expected to generate upwards of 75,000 additional high-skilled jobs. Hyderabad has officially shed its old image as merely a low-cost, alternative tech hub. It stands today as a mature, self-sustaining global engine driving the next phase of enterprise innovation.
